Rambling: I'm Wearing Purple, Are You?

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt
If only this were true! As writers and readers, we all know the power that words can have.
The perfect turn of phrase, the exact word you were looking for, the sheer joy and connection you feel when you describe an image that was only in your head until someone else read it and imagined it as well – these are heady, wonderful things that words can do.
Words can also wound, some worse than weapons. Physical wounds can heal given time, but the scars left from careless teasing or deliberate malice can linger for a lifetime.
Speak out against bullying. Listen when someone needs to talk. Encourage people to believe that IT GETS BETTER. Remember the bright young lives that were lost and do everything you can to make sure it never happens again.
Love yourself and know that you are loved.
