A personal note and why I may not be posting in the next few weeks...

On Friday morning, while I was still reeling from the news of the tragic shooting at the Batman screening less than 10 miles from my house, I realized that I hadn't seen my cat, Bob, yet. He always came out to say "good morning" so I started searching for him. Sadly, I discovered that he'd climbed into the tub sometime in the night and died.

I adopted him almost exactly nine years ago from a breeder. He wasn't any use to them because he was born with only one eye and he either needed to be adopted or they would put him down.

So I took him home without a second thought and never regretted it. Since he only had one eye, I just had to name him after a pirate and since he was pedigreed with an official fancy-pants family tree, I wanted to give him a suitably flamboyant name. I decided on Growltiger's Dread Pirate Roberts, but he was always Bob to me.

Whatever he lacked in the good-genes department, he more than made up for with his good humor, his quirky personality and affection. He'd just been to the vet last weekend and was given a clean bill of health, so I'm still kind of reeling from the shock. While he wasn't a lapcat, he was a great snuggler and the sweetest boy you could hope for.
