Happy Birthday Dearest Teach!
This post was supposed to have a sequel to my Christmas AU for you, but Real Life cruelly intervened and kept it from blossoming from "a fic I'm WRITING" into "a fic I've WRITTEN". Think of it like the groundhog seeing his shadow. ;) Anyhoo, I have worked out the full story and I am still writing it and when it's posted it will be in your honor! In the meantime, I offer a… well, I can't really call it a preview since most of this isn't written yet… we'll call it a prospectus. :)
*HUGS*
Have a great day!

Prospectus: A Dream of Spring
Jack flicked the dust rag one more time and then stood back to look at the result.
"It's official, Bobo," he said to the freckled face that was pressed against the screen door. "The house can't get any cleaner."
Bobo whined and scratched at the door, making it rattle on its hinges.
"Sorry, buddy, you need to stay outside for a little while longer. Just until Ianto has a chance to see the place without its usual coating of dog hair."
With a very human-sounding huff of disapproval, Bobo stalked into the back garden and flopped down on the grass. Jack chucked as he watched the big dog, his eyes automatically seeking out the rest of his brood. Rémy and Jules were curled together in the shade like a giant, furry yin-yang symbol, head resting on the other's back haunch, while Radhi had found a patch of bright sunshine. Jack smiled. The dogs were all fine, the house was neat as a pin and his lover was on his way. All's right with the world, he thought…
Jack pulled Ianto into a quick hug.
"Ianto," he breathed.
"Jack. God, I've missed you," Ianto said softly.
"The dogs are all out in the back garden," Jack said, his words emphasised by a sharp whine and the banging of the back door.
Ianto laughed as he set down his suitcase. "Sounds like we better head out there before they figure out how to work the lock."
Jack climbed into the cockpit after Ianto was settled. He checked the other man's safety gear and then gave him a thumbs up which Ianto shakily returned. Jack grinned. Ianto was in for the ride of his life.
Jack threw a ball for Rémy to chase, laughing as the big dog splashed into the ocean after his prize. He glanced back over his shoulder to see where Ianto had gotten to, just in time to see his lover collapse onto the sand. He was running before he'd even made the decision to move. "Ianto," he yelled. "Ianto!"
"What are those for?" Ianto asked suspiciously when Jack came back to the bedroom with a deck of cards.
"Nothing strenuous," Jack reminded him. "I thought I'd teach you how to play poker."
Ianto rolled his eyes. "Jack, I'm fine, I told – "
"Poker," Jack said sternly.
"Fine. What will we bet?" Ianto asked, clearly humouring his lover. Jack looked blankly around the room until Ianto laughed. "How about clothes?" he suggested archly.
Jack nuzzled the soft skin behind Ianto's ear. "I want to show you off. I want to take you dancing," he whispered.
"Is there somewhere around here to do that?" Ianto asked sceptically.
"Not really… but I know this great club in Paris..."
Ianto sighed sadly. "Then none of it really matters, does it, Jack? It's… over."
