Rambling: NaNoWriMo...

Happy Halloween my darlings!

So... just a few more hours to sign up for NaNo and I just can't make up my mind!! It's very (extremely tremendously exceedingly) likely that I won't make the 50,000 words. Not that it really matters, it's not like someone comes to your house an tattoos "I'm a NaNo Loser" on your forehead if you don't make it! It's just that I'm an agonizer – I write a few paragraphs, I read them over, I edit, I look for that perfect word, I fiddle, I research, then I write a few more paragraphs – all the things NaNo doesn't stand for, LOL.

Part of me feels like I should give it another shot (I tried once in the LJ June WriMo and failed spectacularly).
Part of me feels like it would just be a waste of time and add stress to my already cranky-making RL.
Part of me feels like it would be really fun and satisfying to finish.
Part of me feels like it messes with my writing and makes me write badly.
And yet another part of me feels that, even if I fail, it would be a great exercise to loosen up the control freak that lives inside my head…

So… I'm torn…

What do y'all think? Will you laugh and point when I fail? *wink* And just one last question – who's brilliant idea was it to have this thing during November sweeps??? *giggle* Yeah, yeah, my life is ruled by the idiot box, I know, I know… :)

We will not laugh and point. Any word you write - be it 5, 50K, or 90K is a word you would not have written. It also gives you something to look forward to ... what you are writing is a draft so there is really not any pressure. Just kick back with a cup of coffee and have fun with it.

In case there was doubt, that was a yes.

Signed up! :D I'm woefully behind already, LOL, but I'm gonna keep on keepin' on! Thanks for the words of encouragement. If I can just get myself to stop editing and... well, thinking, LOL, AS I write and just let it flow that will help. :)

Hah! I've gotten bitten by the crazy bug, and went and signed up for it. I've no idea if I'll even get close, I tend to do projects in bursts, with time to dabble in other stuff in between, but we'll see how it goes :)

Thanks hun! I may take you up on the hugs cuz I signed up. :D My goal is to write every day and try not to count more than once a week and just see where it takes me.

I've signed up but like you I re-read and re-write, amending words until the piece is ready, and researching anything I'm not certain about, and that happens be it a 500 word piece (like that ever happens) or a 15000 word piece. The thought of writing and not editing and re-reading/writing as I go already has my fingers itching in concern.

So I promise not to laugh because I know I'll be going through the same thing.

I've written 10000 words so far and I've resisted the urge to go back and edit (sort of!). I did succumb to a little bit of research though, had to look into Pine Martens.

I'm signed up. So not going to stress over the word count, I just cant do that to myself. Plus I'm doing Rebels and writing a memoir so I have NO idea how long the damn thing is likely to be... I'm just using the time and the communal insanity to help me focus. So on that score, if you think it might do the same - help you focus since so many of your insane friends will be doing it too, then I'd say come join the silly, the worst that can happen is that you get some writing done. :)

I bit the bullet. :) And I'm gonna do like you're saying and just write and try not to count every single day. The hard part for me is not stopping to edit and scrutinize, LOL. I'm a bit of a control freak, LOL and just "letting it flow" is soooo not me. :D Which is the main reason I'm trying. Gotta break out every now and then right?

lol yep thats me! Multiple ids and multiple personalities. This one is my so called "personal" account where I babble about life and health crud and magic and gods and stuff. I can add you if you want, I just haven't added all the torchwood / Adam people here because most of them are all about the stories :)

If you choose to sign up, you won't be alone in your insanity. I've signed up again this year and think it's entirely possible that I've lost my mind. The main thing to do is not look at it as writing 50,000 words, it's looking at it as writing just 1,667 words a day.
Promise we won't point & laugh - moot point anyway, you won't fail.
